Our party group from the night before, joined by several others, thronged back to Club Victor, where we had danced previously. The crowd there was thicker, and more aggressive. Male Icelanders glared at our women as if they were Vikings intent on carrying the women off to a ship sailing for Thule. We were bumped and jostled, until it became uncomfortable. We tried a few other clubs, but the crowds were intense. Finally, the group decided to head back to the town hall, where it had been arranged to meet Sven, our bus driver, for a ride back to the hotel. Most of the dinner group was there as well.

Almost half an hour passed. Sven did not show up. Inga called on her cell phone, and when the bus finally hove into view around the corner, she ran out into the middle of the street and flagged him down. Sven had exceeded his daily quota of on-duty hours, and the substitute bus driver had been delayed fighting the unusual city traffic.

We fell into bed once again, but not before inspecting the nightly gift of chocolates from our gracious hosts. Our last day in Iceland was to be a little more relaxing, mainly on our own to shop or sleep until lunch at Apotek at 12:30 Sunday.
