My cousin, HJ Schmidt, is a great climber, and a pretty amusing fellow.
Among his exploits are this climb up Super Pin in the Needles, and an
early ascent to the top of Elkhorn when we were barely teenagers. He is
a commited climber, a photographer with a great eye and vision, and has
done many of the climbs in the Needles and on Devils Tower. He also gets
much of the credit for teaching the younger generation in our family how
to climb, with the result that my nephew Troy Schmidt and his sister Emily,
and my niece Sarah Parker are all excellent climbers today.
